Waldroop was convicted of sexual assault and sentenced to a year in prison. She attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, majoring in physical therapy and business.
Cuomo has never made a secret of his live-in relationship with the “Semi-Homemade Cooking” star, and she held the Bible on which he was sworn into office in 2011.
Earlier this year, he appeared in an HBO documentary about Lee’s 2015 battle with breast cancer, and in March the Food Network star joined him at the Executive Mansion in Albany to host an Easter open house and egg hunt.
She is a spokesperson and serves on the Leadership Council for “No Kid Hungry.” It’s a campaign that was launched in 2010 by the non-profit organization “Share Our Strength.” According to its website, the group works to help provide school breakfasts and summer meals, provide education about healthy food choices and serve as advocates before government officials.
Lee has served as the spokesperson for the “Share Our Strength” annual fundraiser, the Great American Bake Sale.
But while the bio on Cuomo’s campaign site shows him posing with his three grown daughters with ex-wife Kerry Kennedy, it omits any mention of Lee, despite noting that he “lives in Mount Kisco in Westchester County” — where since 2008 he’s shared Lee’s six-bedroom, Colonial-style home.
By contrast, Democratic challenger Cynthia Nixon’s campaign site touts the former “Sex and the City” star’s marriage to Christine Marinoni, and notes that they’re “members of Congregation Beit Simchat Torah, the world’s largest LGBT synagogue.” Republican candidate and Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro’s site says he lives with his wife, Corinne, and three kids, although it doesn’t mention that he had two of them with his first wife, from whom he is divorced. “It becomes more awkward if Cuomo runs for president.” Political scientist Larry Sabato said the most innocent explanation was that Lee didn’t want to be mentioned.
